With a hands-on approach and a sustainable mindset, Barney is the driving force behind Barney Bats. Based in Haywards Heath, he restores around 50 damaged cricket bats each week, transforming them into revitalised instruments for the next player.
Barney’s journey began when he started repairing adult bats for junior players, motivated by the high cost of new equipment. He now takes donated adult bats and repairs or resizes them to suit children — offering quality performance at a fraction of the price of new gear.
Committed to reuse and affordability, Barney’s work supports both the game and the planet. By repairing and repurposing bats, he helps players access equipment they might otherwise not afford — and helps keep cricket gear out of landfill.
